I'm no valentines day freak, but I feel the need to show another side to ur valentines day story. Valentines day maybe a capitalist scheme to screw ppl over by making them empty their pockets in the name of "love"... that may very well be true, but its preposturious of u to insinuate that that is the only purpose of valentines day. Valentines day is a day where one can show their love,gratitude or good feeling towards someone. U could argue that one should not need an excuse to show this or one should not only show this on one day a year and should show it on every or any day of the year and I would agree with u one hundred percent, but, unfortunately, human nature is such that people are afraid to show their emotions, ppl are reluctant to show that they care... Putting aside the intentions of capitalist organizations, valentines day serves as a day where one can show that one cares to a special someone even though one may be reluctant to do the same thing on a so called "normal" day because one may feel silly. maybe valentines day does aid capitalist society, but it also spreads good feeling amongst humans. In a world that is rampant with negativity, hatred, despair and hurt - I am willing to excuse the fact that some fat cats are getting fatter if it gives the opportunity for someone who feels lost in this world and whose life is a bundle of tears to stop for one millisecond and forget about how miserable life their life is and to just smile for a moment cos someone made their day. If valentines day can do that for ONE person, I can't say its a bad thing. Even though I don't like the capitalists that are getting richer and even though I'm not an avid lover of valentines day, if valentines day can make someones day, then despite all of those things, I'd say it was worth it. If it made a few people smile and feel like life aint so bad even for just a few moments, its worth it.
